Feet that are healthy are the most beautiful. Find out what you can do if you suffer from any pain, discomfort or dry skin. Most issues can be tackled at home.

You can keep your feet in tip-top condition by regularly pampering them, either at home or at the salon. Don’t leave it until just before the warm, sunny weather arrives and you want to get them sandal-ready. Make it a regular part of your beauty routine all year round and pay close attention to any issues you may find.

Most Common Foot Problems

Foot problems are very common and nothing to be ashamed of. If caught early, you can minimize the discomfort and pain they may cause. The most usual issues are caused by shoes that don’t fit properly or rub. You can buy remedies to ease the pain of blisters, corns and calluses at your local drugstore. That’s also the place to find treatments for athlete’s foot.

Some foot health problems, such as ingrown toenails and bunions, require the specialist help of a podiatrist. This qualified practitioner can diagnose the issue and suggest ways to treat it.

Tackling dry skin

Perhaps the most common and pesky foot problem is dry skin on the soles of the feet, especially the balls and heel area. Some people are more prone to this than others, but it builds up if you don’t regularly remove the dead skin cells.

Rough and cracked skin is unsightly and definitely not a great look for summer! But the good news is you don’t need to book an emergency appointment at the salon – this is definitely an issue you can deal with yourself in the comfort of your own home.

Follow these three simple steps:

1 – Soak your feet in warm water for 15-20 minutes to soften the dead skin. Try adding Epsom salts to the water, which will naturally exfoliate the feet.

2 – When the skin is softened, use a wet pumice stone or foot file on the feet to gently remove the dead skin.

3 – Pat the feet dry and moisturize with a lotion or cream that’s specifically designed for foot care.
